I think this franchise needs a new topic about it considering the new game has just been released. Please note that Fates isn't released in Europe until the 20th of May so please keep any spoilers in spoiler tags please.

My favourite Fire Emblem game is Shadow Dragon on the DS. It's a remake of the first game on NES. I appreciate its simplicity and prefer the older art style over the newer one. Just like Awakening it features a hard mode. It doesn't have the Insanity or Insanity+ difficulties but instead has five settings after choosing hard. Each one slightly more difficult up to five times and represented by stars. I'm currently trying five star mode and it's insanity. I dared not even use Marth too much due to how squidgy he is. I had to spend 70 turns grinding down the boss with ranged weapons until his health was low enough so that I wouldn't die on my next turn. Luckily I had just enough units to take him out in one turn.

I also really enjoyed the Gameboy Advance games. I think I have both of them on my wii u.

I have pre ordered Birthright. I wish they'd release the price for the special edition which I believe comes with all three. If it works out cheaper than buying all three separately then I'll get that instead.

I like Pokémon

I bought the Special Edition for $85 here in the U.S. And my favouritse Fire Emblem game has to be Rekka No Ken, it was my first FE. The nostalgia paired with the fact that it's a fantastic game makes it easily one of my favourite games ever.

I suspect that due to bulls*** business practise, the special edition in the UK will be about £85. I'd be pleasantly surprised if they bothered with the exchange rate.

Yeah, I'm hoping to get the Special Edition too, but apparently scalpers made the process of getting it horrendous in the US. I'll guess and say it'll be about £70/£75

I agree but it's pretty smart from a business perspective. They've obviously looked at the successful Pokemon model and decided to copy it. I hope this doesn't become a new trend. "Hey you know that game you're looking forward to? Well here's a slightly different version for the same price. Collect both for exclusive DLC."

Also playing Shadow Dragon has made me realise how much I suck balls at these games.

i dont mind it if there are only a few differences, but from what i read you have birthright which will be like a normal fe game where you just have to beat the boss or capture a throne or w/e the typical objectives were, and in conquest you get different objectives.

i dont mind that the plot differs in both, but it bugs me that the gameplay is different.

definitely agree it's a good business move, though.

The different paths are just more gameplay I don't see the problem espically when you get the game half off too. As for different gameplay it's really not, there are some different classes and some different map styles and objectives but it's the same old FE. Only issue is cost it's a lot to pay for including dlc and 3 games but 100% worth it.

Well, the Special Edition's only being sold by Game & Nintendo themselves, so it's not like people have much of a choice in this case.
